My Days in London!

Okay, I obviously am not good at the blogging in London thing, but truthfully I have had zero time. We got out of class early today I thought I would catch everyone up.

July 11th:
It was a early morning. We hopped on a train and were headed for Brighton. When we first arrived, the weather was fabulous, but sadly it got rainy and cold after about an hour. It was still really fun to walk around and see all the cute shops, and it is always wonderful to see the ocean.

We took shelter in the bathroom from the cold wind and rain, and decided to take fun umbrella pictures. :)

July 12th:
For class we went to Getty Images and got to see there archives. AMAZING!!! They have around 70 million images they think.
After the tour, we walked around Little Venice and took photos of all the canal boats.

And that night we went to see Wicked!!! It was so amazing!!!

July 13th:
Happy Potter Studio. Yep. It was actually very interesting. I went with Kristyna, and we got to see all the original props, sets, costumes, etc. I was a little disappointed in their gift shop though. Besides that, I now know the history and the making of the Harry Potter films.

One thing that was very interesting was all the statues are make from foam. Even up close they look like they are made of bronze, but it's foam.

In the last room they had the hand painted model of the castle that they actually used for aerial views of the castle in the movies. It was breath taking.

July 14th:
Sadly, I don't have any pictures on Saturday because it was so rainy; plus, I was feeling a little under the weather. None the less it was a great day. We went to Camden market at 9:30 and were there till 5 in the evening. This is the Camden Market website if you want to look at all the different thinks there.

July 15th:
We went to the Tower of London on Sunday. It was interesting, but not 17 pounds interesting. At least I can say I've done it.

July 16th:
Monday we were on a train again, and off to Salisbury. We climbed 332 steps to the top of the Salisbury Cathedral and then visited Stonehinge.

The view from the top!

I didn't get very many images from Stonehinge. It was pouring rain and the winds decided to fight with my umbrella.... the winds won. So, I was down an umbrella and didn't want to risk my camera getting wet.

Well that was the longest post EVER.
Hope everyone is having a great week so far.
Tomorrow I am off the Edinburgh, Scotland, and I am so excited!

6 days in London so far!

Wow, I have been so bad with keeping up with my blog since I have been in London.
Reasons #1: I'm having issues with my photoshop software so I won't be able to put the first few days up. I started shooting in Raw AND Jpeg today so I can look at them.
#2: I have been one busy beaver. Just today we walked around 5 miles, so by the time I come in for the day I am exhausted.

Yesterday was our first day of class and I was completely different then I expected. I'm an art major, so I should enjoy going to museums and have long intelligent conversations about each piece of art, but that is not me. I can be in and out of a museum in 30 minutes, so the fact we were going to a museum didn't really excite me. When we got there we didn't just go to look at artwork; we met the department head of the photography at the Tate Britain and learned about how they documented all the artworks that come though the Tate museums. Completely different than what I thought we were going to do and I loved it.
We also met an amazing artist, Stephen Gill, who I was quick to judge when I wrote my paper for this class. Turns out he is a genius; the way he thinks about art is so refreshing. Here is his website!

Today was a "photo day" and we just walked around Big Bend and the Tower Bridge and everywhere in between. I'm exhausted, but it was awesome!

Only 4 of the 400 pictures I took today. Since my photoshop isn't working I won't be able to edit them until I get back, so I'm sorry the white balance is off on these. :(

Hopefully, I will be able to balance blog and London now. haha

Currently...IN LONDON!

Currently I am in London!!! I am so excited to finally be here. Today was a relaxed first day of getting to know everyone in my photography class, getting my pass for the tube, a little grocery shopping and enjoying a nice cold Foster's!

The travel to get here was not bad at all; it was a 9 hour fight that seemed short (probably helped that I slept for 6 hours of it) and there was surprisingly good food served on the plane. Once we landed we went though customs (which wasn't bad at all) and there were on the bus headed to our dorms. Of course, it didn't go quite so briskly, there was about 2 or 3 hours of waiting in there. "A lot of hurry up and wait," Daniel would say. Once we got to the dorms and to our rooms we had about an hour to before eating some yummy pizza as a group and then splitting up in our class. My photography professor (Gary), talked to us a little bit and then we went to get our tube passes.

Finally, we got to settle in, buy some groceries and enjoy a beer.
I wish I had pictures for this post, but all the plugs in our dorm are blown and my computer is about to die any second. Oh, the joys of dorm life!
Anyways, Hopefully I will have pictures for you tomorrow.

I'm so excited to be here and to share my journey with you!
