The Weekend in Instagram

This weekend has been a blast. I got to go home and hang out with great friends and my family. The best part was seeing my Grandma; I'm very close to her and she is getting old and usually doesn't remember me. This weekend she did!!! She was full of smiles and laughter; I can not describe how amazing it was to see her like that again!

How was your weekend?

Ideas Are Brewing!

Today I was browsing the blogs I follow, one of them being Pony Gold, (I have posted her work a few times) and she had put a new drawing on her blog. Something about it got me thinking of a possible theme for my senior exhibition.

My final project in my sculpture class was to work with steel. I don't have any pictures of it right now, but I will get some very soon. Anyways, for my piece I used steel rods and bent them by hand with not heat or tools besides my hands and a clamp. It was a lot of physical work but I loved to outcome. All the bends looked natural, not forced.
So the idea that this drawing inspired is to make organic, abstract forms from steel that represent antlers. I am excited to see where this idea takes me and for embracing the fear!!!

Fear...

Have you ever had a dream that you wake up from feeling completely unrested?
This week that seems to be happening to me a lot; for example: last night I had a dream that I was going to my graduation (which will be in December!), and I got lost in a maze on the way to the ceremony. Yes, I realize the meaning of this dream; it is my fear of not being able to graduate on time. This is a completely normal fear for any college student. As an art major I have to exhibit my our show, that is cohesive and tells a story with my artwork, and as of now I have no clue what that is going to be. I'm Terrified, and to already be loosing sleep over it I must be even more terrified then I thought.
I tend to be an person who thrives on time limits; the thought of running out of time gets my creative juices flowing. I need to find that again and not let the fear drag me down. Fear is my friend.

Great Weekend in Cali!

I had such an amazing time in California this weekend. It is so relaxing to be able to sit outside and enjoy a good book. You can do that in Texas but the air is not a fresh and bit warmer (meaning bloody hot). Not to mention the food is amazing. It is also so fresh and light, completely different then Texas. In fact, every time I visit I have to go to this little Vietnamese restaurant and get their spring rolls; they are amazing!!!

It is such a blessing to have such an amazing and supporting family, and it is so beautiful to see us all gather as one to support each other. This weekend it was for my little sister, who graduated high school! I am so proud of her and it has been such an amazing thing to watch her blossom from a silly, curly headed little girl to a beautiful, fearless women.

I am so thankful I was able to go, and I hope everyone had an amazing weekend also.

Pasta Salad Yumminess

So my pasta salad was successful and was just perfect for a warm summer day.

All you need is:
Mozzarella
Grape tomato
Pasta of your choice
Sunflower Kernels

Go ahead and cook your pasta and drain it. Mix some olive oil and balsamic vinegar with the pasta and put it in a bowl in the fridge to chill. While the pasta is cooling down, cut about half your tomatoes and half of the mozzarella and then put them in the bowl with the pasta. Add salt and more balsamic vinegar until it tastes good. Top it off with sunflower kernels and enjoy.

After I made it I remembered "Oh yea, I live with 3 people".
I needed to make it so there was enough for everyone; I added a leftover pasta packet from a hamburger helper, the rest of the tomatoes and mozzarella, and some spinach.

It ended up being delicious and made awesome leftovers!

Did I mention how excited I am for Laura from Violet Bella to introduce her new project tomorrow! I can't wait!!!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing evening.

A Day Off!

It is so relaxing to have a day off with no tasks that must be done. Today I going to attempt to make a pasta salad. Hopefully it will be complete yumminess!!! On my pinterest I have a "Great now I'm hungry" board; it has some of my inspirations on it.
It truly is a summer of inspiration! :)

Inspiration: Space Lotus

I absolutely love the images from Planet Blue's lookbook Space Lotus. LOVE!!!

It has been crazy since finials; you would think it would calm down, but I have started working a lot. This summer, I'm not sure how much of my art I will be able to do since I have will be working as much as possible to save money for London! I'm so excited! Anyways, next semester will be my Senior Exhibition, so I will be looking for inspiration everywhere. I already have a few ideas (some I have shared), but I'm just not 100% sure. So this summer I will be on a journey of inspiration. Should be fun! :)

What inspires you?

Here are some things I have been eying for a while now.

1. Chief Lion Shirt - Dowdy Studio
2. Indeylle Necklace - Roots and Feathers
3. Hair Pin - The Ancient Muse
4. Lilac Arrow Bracelet - Soft Gold Studio

Hope everyone is having a good start to their finals week.

Visit From My Dad & Art Show

This week has been crazy in an amazing way. It started out with very little sleep and a lot of time in the studio, and ended with an awesome visit from my daddy and the gallery opening. I am so excited and truly shocked because I won the Juanita Harvey Achievement Award, which is the highest award! It has made me realize that if I really apply myself to my artwork it pays off. I just can't believe it and I am so honored.

I'm so glad that I got to see my dad this week; I don't think he realizes how much it means to me just to be able to see him and talk to him about everything. He is the best!

These are the pieces that I have in the show.  It will be up through the summer, so if you get a chance you should go look at all the amazing art.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
